An Objective Time‐Series‐Analysis Method for Rainfall‐Runoff Event Identification

چکیده

Methodologies for rainfall-runoff event identification from continuous time series suffer significant subjectivity. In particular, whether they initiate the rainfall or streamflow timeseries, usually require baseflow separation and need substantial modifications parameters’ recalibration when changing temporal resolution of data. Therefore, here we propose a novel objective methodology that is easily transferable across sites resolutions, without having to make subjective choices adjust multiple parameters. The proposed method identify events based on analysis technique simultaneously considers does not any priori assumptions about separation. allows also produce posteriori by connecting delimiters identified events. Moreover, can be applied at as long high enough capture delay between precipitation runoff response. When comparing results traditional baseflow-based approach, observe good agreement in terms properties both hourly daily scale (correlation ratios two methods equal 0.78 [daily data] 0.84 [hourly data]). identifications with reveals produces coherent different resolutions data 0.71).

An image processing based method for power quality event identification

This paper presents a novel technique to visualize and detect various power quality disturbance events. It is based on the image processing methods known as grayscale images and binary images. Gray image created from recorded disturbance voltage waveform is first represented as a transverse wave having compressions and rarefactions. Then using image enhancement techniques, the unique features o...

An objective focusing method for fundus photography.

A method is described which enables the fundus camera to be focused objectively. This method eliminates the focus errors arising from the subjective focusing method currently used and permits the consistent attainment of high resolution fundus photographs. The objective focusing method has been evaluated on test targets and anesthetized animals and is applicable for use on unanesthetized human...

Computer-aided dental identification: an objective method for assessment of radiographic image similarity.

A pilot study evaluated a computer-based method for comparing digital dental images, utilizing a registration algorithm to correct for variations in projection geometry between images prior to a subtraction analysis. A numerical assessment of similarity was generated for pairs of images. Using well-controlled laboratory settings, the method was evaluated as to its ability to identify the correc...

An Objective Prototype-Based Method for Dual-Polarization Radar Clutter Identification

A prototype-based method is developed to discriminate different types of clutter (ground clutter, sea clutter, and insects) from weather echoes using polarimetric measurements and their textures. This method employs a clustering algorithm to generate data groups from the training dataset, each of which is modeled as a weighted Gaussian distribution called a “prototype.” Two classification algor...

The Measurement of Rigidity in Elbow Joint: An Objective Method for the Evaluation of Parkinson's disease

Introduction: One of the most common syndromes in Parkinson's disease (PD) is rigidity. Currently, an index is used to evaluate the level of PD by the clinical measurement of rigidity in the upper extremity. The index uses a subjective method called Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating System (UPDRS). The subjective nature of this method makes the influence of physician in the measurement of rigi...
